The Hovermatt® system is used to assist with lateral transfers anywhere in the hospital. It is radiolucent and artefact free so patients may remain on the
Hovermatt® mattress for all ancillary procedures - including diagnostic radiology, nuclear medicine, MRI or radiation therapy.
Consistent utilisation of the Hovermatt® dramatically reduces back injuries to the staff that are caused by lateral trasfers and repositioning. In addition, fewer staff members are required and a very comfortable transfer for the patient is provided.

The Principal of the Hovermatt® Technology
After the patient is placed on the Hovermatt® transfer mattress, low pressure air from a small air supply will inflate the mattress. At the same time that the air is supporting the patient, the air is escaping from the perforations in the underside and acting as a lubricant to reduce friction, which facilitates effortless transfers. With less force needed to transfer the patient, there is less physical effort and strain expended by the caregivers which results in a reduction of injuries. The Hovermatt® technology requires 90% less force than conventional products currently in use.

Hovermatt® Sizes and Capacity
The transfer weight of the Hovermatt® is only limited by the width / body mass of the patient; there is in effect no upper weight limit.
The full length mats are available in three standard widths:

• Standard 28 inch (71 cm)
• Obese 35 inch (87.5 cm)
• Super Obese 50 inch (127 cm)
